The current global revolutions such as the protests in Iran, Palestine and Afghanistan, the war in Ukraine, as well as the precarious situation of immigrants in the U.S.-Mexico Border and the Refugee “crisis”, or underreported gender violence against Indigenous women and women of color have led to a surge of different diasporic movements of activism through literature, film and digital media. For example, the Iranian uprising, following the murder of Mahsa Amini on September 16th 2022, has been mainly reported via social media, especially Instagram, to bypass the strict censorship of the Islamic regime. Much of this activism takes place in diaspora, or transnational settings. This diasporic movement reflects a surplus of solidarity, empathy, and action that enacts collaboration and effects change.

This panel seeks papers that focus on artistic, literary, film and digital media productions that directly or indirectly perform activism and lead movements of liberation, or presentations of (multi)media projects that involve activism, Digital Humanities, and social justice praxis. Possible topics include but are not limited to:

- Marginalized voices and unheard voices
- Digital and Social Media Activism
- Censorship
- Visibility through diasporic movements
- Literary activism
- Film activism
- Documentary-making as acts of resistance
- Hacktivism
- Protest art and music
- Projects that involve: Oral histories, Testimonies, Story Mapping, Podcasting, Interactive journalism, etc.
- Testimonial literature and digital storytelling
